Request by the Lackawanna County Commissioners to have on Saturday, May 26, 2018 at 1100 hours a Color Guard and an Honor Guard, lead, for a short march, Lieutenant General Ron Christmas (retired) to the Courthouse Square in Scranton; where upon the General will present several medals earned by Lance Corporal Jimmy Reddington, including 2 Purple Hearts, to the Marine Corps League, Northeastern PA Detachment. These medals will be given to the League because there are no surviving family members. Accompanying the General will be members of Echo 2/5 from March 1967, who have survived including, Colonel Ebbert (retired), Company Commander of Echo 2/5. Also accompanying the group will be Scranton’s own Black Diamond Bagpipers in Irish kilt uniforms. Dignitaries expected to attend are U.S. Senators Casey and Toomey, as well as several Congressmen. Local dignitaries will be the three County Commissioners who sponsor the event, various Judges and elected officials, Police Chief of Scranton, and Colonel Nathan Swartz. Commander of nearby Tobyhanna Signal Depot, where 35% of work is for the U.S. Marine Corps.
